I looked for the technical specs of a MiFi and couldn't find any. But, I'm guessing it is NOT an ad-hoc network... that it creates in infrastructre network just as any home WAP would create.
I say this because most laptops and other devices network adapters are set to connect to infrastructure networks. So, I doubt they want customers to go and have to change their adapters to run in ad-hoc mode.
