I believe there's at least one good Polish place in walking distance of me in Manhattan. There's at least one good place serving Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Indian/Pakastani/Bangladeshi, Korean, Turkish, Afghan, Tex-Mex, German, Italian, and French cuisine within walking distance, too.

Multiple Indo/Paki/Bangladeshi places, in fact, as I'm a block above one of the areas known as Little India. Beef curry and fresh nan bread at 2am? No problem. I know where the Indian cab drivers working the night shift go...
