I was inspired by two examples. One was my grandmother, who was a voracious reader of everything. The other was my oldest brother, who read science fiction and comic books.

What I read when I was young was mostly what written for children, for example, Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, other juvenile fiction. The main exception was the level of science fiction I read. Because of my brother, I was introduced to adult science fiction and fantasy at a very young age.

I cannot remember a time when I did not read. I'm pretty sure I wasn't born reading, though.
