if you want to get a colour version of the Opus (any colour except white) you are sure it's the latest version, since they were only introduced a few months ago. also, new versions have a new packaging in a clear acrylic box which shows the device inside ; we've seen some of them at the last Paris meetup. old version (white model only) was sold in an opaque carton, but i don't know if they are still available in any shops.
last way to check is to look at the logo on the top of the bezel, to see if it's the old version or new version (you can see the new logo on bookeen's website or on any of the new colour opus), but again that would only be necessary for the white version and normally the box should already tell you.
