My mom read a lot, I remember her reading in the (mostly unused) living room, hiding from the kids. I didn't read until the end of 2nd grade, when I started reading about 3 years above grade level. And never stopped. I read constantly and was often told to "just put down that book for a minute and do your job!" Now I find I have to tell my son that.
