Believe it or not, back in the 50s and 60s there were publishers printing what would now be called "out of print" books.

There wasn't much reading in my house so it was a fluke that I happened on a "John Carter of Mars" series book (originally printed July 1912). I'm not too certain which was the first one I read, but I soon read them all.

Even watching a lot of TV back then didn't slow me down. I still read, but watch almost no TV now.
