Habanero chili peppers are rated 100,000–350,000 on the
Scoville scale.
The hottest thing I ever had is a ham sandwich, in the bar outside the hospital in Lima, Peru. We had nothing to do with the hospital, but we had taken a collectivo and it had busted a wheel right there, so we had to dismount and as we saw food we grabbed the occasion. That was way back in time, maybe 30 years ago or more. He asked me if I wanted English ham or Locale. Locale of course. It had a little slice of onion with it. After the 2nd bite (the first was just delicious) tears started to come out from my ears. Yes, it melted all the wax that I could have had there.
There was no way to curb the fire. Tried with ice water. It just got worst. Tried with beer. Like the mouth of a volcano. The natives were all with flat indifferent faces, but you knew that inside they were rolling on the floor because when they touched something all the glasses in the bar tinkled. And a woman had her belly vibrating so that her earrings were swinging like mad. Finally somebody said something that sounded like leche. But with that explosive accent they have, like leeecheh. It worked. 3 glasses of milk did the trick. So that lunch also was busted. At least I had the milk.
