First thing: which "same problem" were you referring to? I've found solutions to some of the things I've posted about here in the forums, so maybe we can sort yours out as well.
As for the freezing: does your iRiver hang when it's just starting up, or on trying to open specific files? I read somewhere about being able to boot it from a copy of the firmware on an SD chip -- I'll see if I can find that article again.
What version of the firmware is installed at the moment? Is it just as it was fresh out of the box, or have you already done a firmware update on it?
