Sales didn't triple. The "growth rate" tripled. Kinda ruins the point of the article.

Amazon is going to do fine. They've branched out so that kindle books can be read on most any mobile phone and the ipad and forthcoming android slates.

The publishers put a stop to the selling for a loss -- which enabled Amazon to drop the price of the kindle. They can make money on the books instead of the kindle. This is a good thing for Amazon now that there is a flood of cheap eink readers that are only going to get cheaper -- and the B&N and Borders have joined Sony as major competitors.

Amazon is going to do just fine with ebooks -- and even more so as the iPad sells millions upon millions.
