Yerba Mate is a very beneficial concoction that they drink in those fancy bowls from metal straws. Did you see the movie Tango? Eh. that kind of world. They are macho, so the man expects that the instant he arrives at home the thing is handed to him (with a curtsy) and replenished continuously.
I met a shop holder that just spoke through it and did not take it away from his mouth for the whole 1/2 hour we were in the shop. I saw some of them going around with the straw in the brest pocket of their shirt together with the pens. Funny guys. Macho as they come.
I had it and enjoyed when I was with them, but at home it just wasted away in the cupboard. May be you want to impress some of your lady friends and the yerba mate could be a trick. I would just receive them sucking from the bowl like it was the most natural thing and then not mentioning it, like you were an Argentinian. Then when one of them asks, you start with your prepared spiel and count the number of open mouths. The difficult thing is the metal straw that cannot be improvised, while the bowl can be obtained from a coconut shell, after some little shaving. But if you saw it there would not be any problem. You might like it enormouslu and then you could get a fancy bombilla. one with a silver puma, or an eagle, or worst. Any bio thing will carry the yerba mate. One uses a lot so the package goes fast.

Sounds intriquing and exotic! But it may be too macho a drink for me, I don't want to wake up with a full mustache the next day. And just how ladylike would it be for me to talk around a metal straw do you think?
Perhaps h_t may be interested, he could drink that instead of the horse junk he usually does. Would aid in his work out sessions, yes?
I will try and see if I can get a few day's sample when I next order my tea leaves.
