Looking at the full year, the stock price wasn't impacted by the quarterly earnings report, one way or the other. It's worth a reminder that Amazon is a very big company -- in spite of being mainly online. It's about five times the size of Barnes & Noble (which operates 2,000 stores) in terms of gross revenue and somewhat more profitable. Amazon spent more on website infrastructure upgrades than B&N showed net profit. The business models are really quite different. (Not that that is news: it's just amazing how much different they are by design and in sheer size.)
