There was a case years back of a chap who was a Senior Vice President at Internet provider eXcite.com. He met what he thought was an under aged girl in a chat room. The other posters were trying to tell him "Dude! You don't
know if she's really a girl. She may be a cop trying to trap you! Back off!"
But wishful thinking predominates in such folks, and he believed what he wanted to believe, providing "her" with his
office number to contact him, and arranging to meet. He was arrested when he got off the plane, carrying among other things a laptop with lots of photos of underage girls (nude, I suspect, though not explicitly stated.)
I never did catch the end or find out what his fate was (though I assume it wasn't good), but did wonder about willful stupidity and blindness afflicting otherwise intelligent people.
