My point, Ken, was merely that, while there is no "ban" on them, explicit mention of them is made of both politics and religion in the Guidelines, and the recommendation there is generally away from those topics.

What one chooses to do with, and how one interprets that guideline, and the others, is an individual matter, but in the end they are meant to "guide" the community, and the Star Chamber/mods, in what is desirable and in that ambiguous "for the best".

That's all. Not arguing...just pointing out that there is a guideline relating to politics being discussed, though not an explicit "ban". That there are guidelines on discussion. That it's not completely an anything-goes thing. That guidelines guide posting and moderation. That's all.
