Hi all,

my most extreme place is postiviely mundane compared to many here.

I was bushwalking in the stunning Warrumbungle National Park (a volcanic area in New South Wales in Australia) in 1976, and I took a copy of Larry Niven's Ringworld with me.

I'd been warned to take my own water because they were in drought. I just had time to set up my tent when the heavens opened and it rained so heavily it was like late evening all day. With not much to do, I was obliged to enjoy this wonderfully imaginative novel for two full days.

Each time I have returned to this extraordinary place, there has been a similar deluge.

I tell myself it is mere coincidence...

Cheers,
