Alternatively, Amazon
could stop packaging ebooks in its proprietary format. Then it wouldn't need to make its app available at all. As an added bonus, those of us who don't fancy Kindles could read 'em, too.

In addition to the DMCA (in the US), DRM removal is a violation of your
license. The one you probably didn't know you agreed to when you
licensed (not purchased) that Amazon ebook:
