I reloaded the latest Buggins firmware using the BACK page button, that erases the flash but Windows cannot read the disk. Before connecting it to my PC, I ran all of the different versions and permutations of the script saved as UNIX from SD and HD and had no success. I did the same after connecting to Windows and formatting the HD and also no success. I am either missing something or my PP is just a smidgen off from everyone elses.

None of this would really be an issue if the hidden files could be made visible without connecting to a PC and then the recentlyread file could simply be deleted like any book file.

Okay:
In EditPad Pro (check to make sure the text does not need to be converted to UNIX in MENU -> CONVERT):

#!/bin/sh
rm -rf /root/abook/RecentlyRead.sys
rm -rf /home/RecentlyRead.sys

Save as xxx.exe.fb2 (replace xxx with anything you like and save the file anywhere you like, SD or HD).

This deletes the recently read file and with that the listing in the Recent files folder if this also deletes the content of the flash or anything else, I do not know - BUT the PP must be turned off and back on again - and that is something I did not do with any of the other scripts either, I assumed that the change will be applied then and there. So I tried the other ones again but no luck.
