Many readers work with a MAC although most people here use PCs and it may seem like the entire site is PC centric. Some companies like Sony offer their software for Windows only and as I remember it has worked with Intel based MACs running a Windows installation.

That said, the Sony works well with libprs500 (available free from a link on the MobileRead Wiki) on a MAC as he provides a driver that allows the machine to see the Sony. It is not a pure USB device. However, you can transfer ebooks to an SD card and plug the SD card into the unit. Without Windows you will not have access to the Sony Connect Bookstore.

The new CyBook 3 is reported to be a true USB device that when plugged into your MAC will show up as another drive so you can transfer books to it directly. It supports many formats and they promise many more to come.

Maybe Adam or Harry or another of the iRex Iliad users can address their reader on a MAC since it is Linux based.

Those are the main readers. Depending upon where you live there may be others.

Those are the e-ink readers. Also there is the Ebookwise that is LCD and far less expensive than the e-ink readers. Plus there are a great number of Palms that have served many of us for many years. They can run MobiReader, Plucker, and more formats than I can remember.

So in answer to your question, "yes."
