When Pat Stewart was offered the role of Capt Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek, the original idea was that he would adopt a French accent. He thought that was daft and insisted on Oxford English. I did notice very often, though, that he would Americanise the pronunciation of some words, 'leeshur' for leisure was one. Many, many more that I can't bring to mind.
