Then you have found your PERFECT reading device. However, you could have bought an old Fujitsu tablet off Ebay with those same features for $100 (with a free bumper case). Plus you could annotate and sync your PDF’s along with many other things your iPad can’t handled.
Pull the wool over your own eyes - the iPad is not a reader.

- It's a BIG screen, weight is proportional.
- I read inside because it's Canada. We got bugs during summer and snow in the winter. And my sofa is inside...
- The screen is treated with an oleo phobic compound. Grease will not remain on it. One quick wipe with my glasses' cloth and it's gone.
- I USE FOUR BOOK STORES (why did I have to shout there) and some of the 4,000 ebooks I own.
- Yes, I have found the perfect reader, and I can read in total darkness.
- I have NEVER had to wait for a charge. I put it in the dock every night and it lasts all of the next day.
- PDFs are easily annotated and are now supported by iBooks.
- And by now you must have guessed what suggestion I have for where to put your ball of wool. Yes it has to do with your bumper case.
- You really have to know a device before you put it down. If you wanted to say you preferred ink, I would have understood. I've had a 500 for four years now, so I know what it is to look around for strong lighting. That must be why you prefer reading in sunshine, it's the only place it's useful.
