I understand that the Sony PRS-600 is very slow when reading from external memory (SD card or it's proprietary Memory Stick). Since I'm looking into purchasing my first e-reader this is a concern for me.

How is the nook in this regard? If I have, say, 1000 books on an SD card, how long would it take the nook to recognize them?

Also, can the nook display PDFs in landscape mode?
