One last interesting data point - my kobo did NOT run through the normal 30 min sleep / power-off cycle after I stopped at 8,000. I just noticed it was still showing the last page and I figured it had finally died. Nope. Still turning pages fine. So, I've manually powered it off until tomorrow. Can it reach 9000????
