One thing nice about the PDFs I have made from scanned (no OCR) paper books is flipping pages is easy when I'm reading them on my computer. Even "real" e-books are easy when I'm using the reader that comes with calibre on my computer (I like to read them from the 32" TV I have patched into my computer, using a wireless mouse for a "remote". It seems to me any problems lie with the readers, such as slow refresh rates on e-ink screens (not all the noticeable when reading but suddenly horrible when flipping pages), etc. The technology is slowly improving so it's just a matter of time before it gets better and the prices come down.
