What do you think it means, happy_terd? Could Javed be right about it being a tribute to the average number of lines on the page of a paperback novel? Should we accept Douglas Adams' statement that it was just a coincidence that 6 x 9 works out to be 42 in a base 13 system, and that he was not consciously aware of that fact when he wrote it?
Could 42 be the revision number of the current simulated reality program version of which we are merely A.I. sub-routines?
