I purchased my first e-reader (Aluratek Libre Pro ALP) in Jan 2010 at Costco for $159 + Tax (Ottawa, Canada). I was very pleased with it and while I was continuing to investigate e-book formats and e-readers I came across the jetBook site. I was surprised to see that it was the same device BUT included a Dictionary. I saw that there was a JB-Lite as well and noted that it did not support audio.
After 2 weeks of using the ALP I decided I would swap for the JB as it had the dictionary. What I didn't noticed (it's funny how your mind plays tricks on you) that unlike the ALP the JB did not support ADE DRM and the PDF had no Text Flow. I ordered the unit from NewYork and it was mailed out from Mississauga Ont. After I started to play with it is when I found it's short comings. Then to top it off the Dictionary was not that great. 8 out of 10 times the word was not found.
I checked out their forum and their were all kinds of promises about adding B&N pdb DRM. I looked into returning the unit only to dicover I would be taking a bit hit $$$ with the return shipping and the restocking fee. So I looked into resolving some of it's issues. I found the ADE DRM could be removed which now opened Online purchases of e-books as well as Public Library access.
I got tired of the PDF issue and desided to purchase the ALP again.
Earlier in april I had seen a comment about fw .35 but it was tooted as an april fools joke so I hadn't paid that much attention to it. It turns out that FW .35a was a big improvement - but too late to save my purchase of the ALP.
Now the JB out performs the ALP and the JB-L with re: to flexibility.
