Enjoying "Baku, last days" very much. I was wrong in my earlier post, and I should probably go back and edit it. Olivier Rolin went to Baku because he once wrote a short story describing his own suicide in a Baku hotel room, after spending one night there on a trip. I like how he writes about the loneliness and melancholy of travels. Interestingly, that was also what I liked about "Terminal Frigo", a book his brother Jean Rolin wrote that is also a sort of travel diary.
Unfortunately neither book seems to be translated, though a few of
Olivier Rolin's books are available in English.
