When that happens I just dumps a cup of gas in front of the opening and set fire. Warrior wasps that come out lose their wings as they burn in a flash. The gas will burn long enough until they're controlled.
When they're up like hornets, I come back at night when they don't fly and wrap the nest in a garbage bag to dispose of them. If they're in a hole on a building, I take a vacuum cleaner, add all the rigid hose I can find and set the end right next to the entrance and capture them until I don't hear them tumbling inside the hose anymore. Not to forget, plug the hose after turning the vacuum off...
