In 99% of cases I turn the reader off and do not use auto shut down option. Also I mostly use buttons when turning the pages and not the touch screen (for reading I don't need a touch screen, I use it with the dictionary though and currently for the experiment I read only in my native language where I don't need to use dictionary).
I read on Russian forum an interesting thing about the way to measure how long the battery will last. If you run a picture slide show, 1 min is equal to 10 pages turns. So if someone really wants to measure the battery life, here are the steps:
- fully charge the reader
- put it into slide show mode
- and count until the battery is empty
