What size are you looking for? If you want 10", the iPad might be the best choice you just have to make sure you find shade.

If you are flexible you might want to look at the Dell Streak. It's classified as a tablet and has some pretty impressive videos. The screen is durable (some guy took a box cutter to the screen and didn't scratch it). Some show off it's functionality/features


Most Reviews in general tend to be pretty positive about the device (I haven't came across a bad review, but I'm sure there is one out there)

The device is only out in the UK and will be released in the states in July. The prices haven't been shared but it will come as an ATT exclusive, or you can buy the device without a contract.

But paying $500 for a device (read LCD screens) that does not suit you needs is a bit steep. You might want to hold off and see what comes out later this year. It is rumored that tables with the Qualcomm Mirasol Display are coming out latter this year. These devices will have screens that can work well in direct sunlight.
