-webkit-box-shadow: inset 0 0 20px #000;

from the element for the table in question in the css which fixed the problem.

I'm almost convinced its a problem with kindle or the ebook. The page is an xhtml with a css page. I used the book edit feature to edit the css to change the background color, and on the first page...

I attempted too, but not sure how to do it properly. I think the color the kindle is having problems with is #87888a. I was able to change the color the e-book viewer using the inspect book code...

I assume you mean this.

It does in fact change the output but not in a desirable way.

Kind of makes the previous page fade, and then the next page is still black on black.

I converted this epub to azw3 for my kindle paperwhite2. In calibre its a gray background with white/black text.

On my kindle, the gray background is black and all the black text is not visible....
