Size issues of combined KF7/KF8s for older Kindles..

Thanks, I'd rather just leave one Mobi file and let users download that if I can be sure that they'll be able to read it on whatever Kindle they own.

Still, I think the Fire has 8mb internal...

Can all Kindles currently use the new (KF8?) mobi files?

If I create a Mobi file from an ePub using the new Previewer, and then use Kindlestrip to remove the epub portion of original content so I now have a much smaller Mobi file...

...can this smaller...

Partly to answer my own question above, I've just now run the recent Kindlestrip python script against my huge Mobi file, stripping out the original ePub. Holy @#$!! what a difference. I have to say...

stripping before and after...but what gets charged?

I'll understand if no one has a definite answer for this, but so far I'm at least getting great helpful answers. So, if a Mobi file has both original and K8 formats in it, and if from that Amazon...

I have a question that someone may be able to answer here. I've tested converting an ePub to Mobi using both Calibre and the new Kindle Previewer. The problem I found is that using the Previewer, it...

Odd discovery fixed all my centering issues

I placed this in the Sigil forum since I use that program as well, but perhaps someone here may find this helpful if you're having problems with centering or other issues with styling in the CSS...

Odd discovery fixed all my centering issues

I'm posting this because I had never found a solution to my problems with centering and other non-working style issues--until today! I set out to find a hack solution to get a line of text to center...

Still...it's seems like poor planning and design

What's in the previous comments is all true, which also proves the point that there is a problem. The "standard" is supposed to avoid exactly these problems and not leave things up to individual...

epub reader that supports zooming.

I've been looking for a good ePub reader app that has zooming as well, and so far the only one I've found is fbreader, which let's you long-press an image to enlarge it. It isn't as nice as just...

Got it...and she was right!

I can verify what the above poster said about disabling the shortcuts. I had tried to install the last two versions of Calibre (as of Sept 19th, 2011) and neither of them would complete. At the end,...

The ePub 3.0 specification (RFC5646) indicates that this is good:

<dc:language>en-US</dc:language>

I've checked and this is used in other ePub files (meant to specify "US English"). But...

'Language' specification disappears?

A quick question...is it just me or does Sigil have a problem with dropping the language specification whenever you open or save a file? I've had an epub with the language specified (English) and...

That will be great since for me I often only need to edit a page or add something that shouldn't change the TOC.

That said, if I do have a TOC already and want to keep it, wouldn't it seem more...

I've had this same issue enough times to be frustrated by it. I'm not sure what ".4 will make this optional" means since it sounds like editing the metadata will make it optional to destroy the TOC,...
