Batch convert .lit or .rb files?
Sorry if this has already been answered, but I couldn't find the answer in the forum.
Is there a program to convert either non-drm rocket book or non-drm .lit books to read with the Sony Reader? I've found an Ebay CD with tons of public domain books and if I could convert them it would save me a lot time (as opposed to downloading and saving, then converting from Guttenburg) I guess, also if anybody has any comments... I have a lot of pdf books which is the reason I bought the Sony. I'm trying to convert them so that I can actually read them. So my plan was to use a pdf to word converter and then load that into the reader. Then I read about the BBeBook so I may also try that. Any suggestions before I get started? |
I don't know about rocket-book, but there are a number of free utilities to convert .lit files. Just Google "convert .lit" and you should find a good listing. Probably find stuff for the .rb files too, now that I think about it. :nice:
Oh, and welcome to MobileRead. |
Thank you for your reply NatCh. I have searched already, of course ;) , but the programs I've found convert it to html or some strange open book format.
I was asking here because: 1. If I want to convert 1,000 books, that means 1,000 html files with folders and all their seperate files. Then how do I keep track of what's what to convert again to Sony Reader format? I can't find a converter for the open book format. 2. It'd be nice to convert directly to something like .rtf or .doc, at least then I'd have a one file to one file conversion and I could always read or edit them easily on the PC. 3. From reading this board it seems that there has been a lot of formatting problems with conversions and I thought somebody here might have been down this road before. Thanks guys :) |
Try this.

Also from the Process Text Group is a Rocket Book Converter. (As well as a Palm Converter.) All of them will convert either a single file or batch conversion from a single directory. (Point of good order: I have purchased many of the converters offered by the Process Text Group and have found them to be of excellent quality.) There are free trial periods offered for all of their converters.
I have updated the MobileRead Wiki page about conversion software https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/E-book_conversion but it is not fully complete (it never will be) however a lot of the main converteres are there. |

NEED HELP
Hi. Actually I tried the ABC Converter but i need to convert 1007 .lit files and whenever i start the conversion during the conversion of the very first file it shows an error and then it hangs. I dont know what to do as I usually prefer .pdf files to .lit or .doc. I also cant afford to convert only 5-6 files. If it were mass converter like 50 files at once or even 20 files at once then it would be better if not best.
 :chinscratch: :help: :help: :help: |
@shivank28: Try using calibre. Specifically, use the command-line tools and write yourself a little script. Go visit the calibre forum here on Mobileread if you need help.

So I'd take them with a grain of salt. |
