Top 10 Most Pirated Ebooks of 2009

From The Independent:

1. Kama Sutra
2. Photoshop: Secrets of the Pros
3. The Complete Idiot's Guide to Amazing Sex
4. The Lost Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci
5. Solar House: A Guide for the Solar Designer
6. Before Pornography: Erotic Writing in Early Modern England
7. Twilight
8. The Science of Influence: How to Get Anyone to Say YES in 8 Minutes or Less
9. Nude Photography: The Art and the Craft
10. Fix It: How to do all those little repair jobs around your home

It appears that most ebook pirates are sexually perverted, environmentally conscious photographers, who have a vampire fetish and enjoy fixing things about the house.

Thanks Sonist.

What a bizarre list, I wouldn't have guessed any of those!

Moejoe 04-26-2010 06:29 PM

That's the 'fake' list we pirates give out to throw the IP Coppers off our tail. It's all code, you see, intricate code for our secret underground meetings where we plan to take over Big Media and make copyright irrelevant. ;)

How does one pirate Kama Sutra? A quick google says it's a but old to still be in copyright.

edit: The article also implies downloading Victor Hugo book would be pirating

Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

The pirate Kama Sutra is very much like the normal Kama Sutra only with more eye-patches and (dare I say) Jolly Rogers :D

No newsletter, but there's a meeting on the docks at midnight. There will be a man in a white fedora and a red rose in his lapel. Utter these words: "I will not buy DRM products, no matter the price." To which your contact will reply: "DRM is like catnip to Steve Jobs." You must then say: "The iPad was a mistake and only hipsters buy them."

Once this is done, you will be given a map to the location of the meeting.

Good luck, and if you find yourself in a jam, take the first boat-plane to Lisbon where a man in a red fez will contact you. This man is called Dave, or is it Nigel?

Unfortunately, my probation conditions forbid me from going to the docks after 11pm. Could I go direct to Lisbon instead?

There's a modern version with photo illustrations running around in a pirated PDF format. Or so I hear. *cough*

Patricia 04-26-2010 06:52 PM

We've already got the non-pirated Kama Sutra in the MR upload section.

Yes, but you must be careful. A man called Joel Cairo will contact you and give you the location of the Falcon. Once you have the Falcon in your hands, you must take it to a man called Gutman. Whatever you do, keep the Falcon away from a woman called Brigid O'Shaughnessy, this you must do at all costs or....*knock on door*...

"We know you're in there. We know you have the bird! Come on out or we'll make Swiss cheese of this door and you!!"

.............

In next week's exciting episode will Moejoe escape the clutches of the men with guns outside his door? Will Bilbo receive his instructions on how to recover the fabled Falcon? Will Sonist be angry that his thread was hijacked for hijinks? Will anybody believe the factual accuracy of mainstream journalists ever again?

All these questions and less will be answered when you tune in next week for "Stealing Famous Plot lines For Quick Jokes."

*Cue theme Music*

I can only assume numbers 1 and 2 were linked then. Have you seen some of those poses?! You want me to put my foot where? And do THAT with my hip? :eek:Can't we just have a cup of tea and a hobnob instead?

Leaving aside the monkey buisness the article does suggest that any book download at least on torrents is somehow wrong and ignores that some books are in the public domain. Now it could be Marjorie Kehe is a fool or it could be we're being conditioned to think everything keeps copyright forever.

What a bizarre list. And of cause those deviants want to fix things around the house - can't have the table collapsing in the middle now can we.
