I am trying to really use Sigil for the first time to put together study material. I used http://www.web2fb2.net/ to take pages from wikipedia and convert them to ePub but I cannot open them in Sigil.
It complains about permission being denied... I was able to open the ePub with Calibre, B&N reader, Adobe DE... This is on OSX Snow Lepard and Sigil 0.1.9 I attached the ePub file in question... https://www.mobileread.com/forums/att...1&d=1266942255 |
I'm able to open your file using Windows Vista.
Sigil Version 0.1.9 Loaded QT 4.6.1 |
I too can open this file just fine on Win7 x64. Create a new issue on the tracker, attach the epub file and a link to this thread and I'll take a look at it the next time I'm near a Mac.

Issue 256 opened :)

However, it seems to be a problem with the zip file - unzipping and rezipping allows the book to be opened in Sigil. Perhaps the zip contains file permissions that Sigil's unzip is honouring? |

Code:
$ zipinfo -l electric\ motor.epub |

ZipArchive, the library Sigil uses for ZIP operations is good; perhaps too good. Where other ZIP tools fail to preserve the permissions of the files stored in the ZIP file, ZipArchive doesn't. I should take a look into making it "dumber". |
