Whoo Hoo.....
Well I got my PP in today and have finally gotten a few books converted and working well on it. I sat down for about a 1/2 hr and read with it and can only say that I am impressed. This is the best portable hand held device that I have used so far for reading ebooks. It is the first dedicated ereader that I have had so I don't have a lot of experience with them but it defanalty beets the Palm III and Jornada 520 by 1000% and I can see where it will be a lot more convenient than carting my laptop around.
I do think that the standard case leaves a bit to be desired but then most electronics that come with a case do as well. I may try the Stylz case while I try to either make one or find just exactly what I want. Over all I think I will be very happy with this once I figure out all the little tricks. |
Good to hear you are happy!

I'm very happy for you! :)

Good for you, kdf!!

Ducky is right. Charge first (8-12 hours) and practice later. SO many problems are battery charge life related. I freaked out on an airplane when our new device acted up and froze and would not turn pages. It was simply low on battery charge. Think of the device as saying: "OH, my God, I am gonna die" and it reacts accordingly. Keep that charge up there. Recharge at a little less than 50% left on the charge meter! Read the FAQ sheet!! The User Manual was printed 7 months ago or so. The FAQ sheet was just updated again last week. You will find the FAQ sheet at: www.theEZreader.com under "support"! This 4-5 page sheet is designed to get you up to speed quickly. Do not forget, even though your device is new to you, that it may not have the latest firmware upgrade. Go to www.theEZreader.com under "support" and do the latest firmware upgrade. Instructions are on the FAQ sheet! We are so happy you like the Pocket PRO and welcome you to our merry band!! |
Thanks guys.
Robert I have been reading the FAQ sheet all week while I was waiting for it to get here, inbetween checking the UPS tracking site. The first thing I did was to check and upgrade the firmware and then tossed it on the charger while I was moving some books to the sd card. It took me a few tries to get a good formated book that worked well but I think I have that figured out now. I am very pleased with it and am already on my second novel and have a feeling that by the end of the week I will probablly have at least 7 or 8 books read. I can't seem to put this thing down. I thought I wasn't going to like the white version that I ended up with but have to say that it is very easy on the eyes and actully is more like reading a pbook than the black framed units I had looked at. The only problem that I have had with it is not a problem with the unit itself but with the Stylzworld website. I decided to go ahead and order the brown milano case but for some reason that site happens to be messed up on the shoping section. I guess I will have to wait on that bit. |
Would you mind sharing what format works best for you and what options (assuming you're using Calibre) you've found helpful? I'm sure I'll be doing plenty of tweaking on my own, but I'm curious to see what's working for others.

You have done everything right and perfectly. I wish I had everyone like you. You have just about ensured your own happiness; and I know I have done my job! I can relax now. Stylzworld makes an incredible case... their work is wonderful but their customer service is poor at best. Stick with it. I have the Brown Milano and it is striking! |

I'm sure that I will find something that will work better down the road but for now on the series that I am working on what I did was save the .rtf files as .txt with out line breaks with Office 2000 and then used Calibre to convert them to ePub files. I havent played with converting the ton of .lit files that I have to another type yet. |
