Useful tip: How to change the BD language AFTER you create a book

As BookDesigner users will know, one has to get the "language" setting correct before creating or importing a book - "German" is what one normally sets it to. If it's wrong, then any accented letters in the book will show up as "&#xxx" in the finished (Sony) book.

It is possible, however, to make the change AFTER the book has been created, if you forget. To do this, exit book designer, and then open the "bookname.html0" file in the "Lastfile" folder of the BD installation file using a text editor. The first two lines of the file will say:

Code:

<HTML>
<meta content="text/html; charset=windows-1251" http-equiv="Content-Type">

Change the "windows-1251" to say "windows-1252", and re-save the file. Then reopen BD, and accented letters will now appear correctly in the created book.

thanks alot this i needed cause a few of my books were english before i learned better,

this works, but only when the file is in the folder Lastfile

html0 files in your BD directory will not work.

But presumably, if you open the BD file, make a few trivial changes, then close it, it will then appear in your last book file.

oh yes, i didnt mean to imply otherwise,

Opening the html0 backup in the BD directory
close bd
and it should be open and extracted inside the Lastfile directory.
