ebook-convert exporting to markdown not respecting --keep-image-references

Hi everybody,

First of all, I want to say thank you for all your support in this forum.

I noticed that when I use ebook-convert to export a recipe to txt it does not respect the --keep-image-references option. Instead of referencing an image using the original link a relative link in the form of "images/000002.png" is embedded. But even worse the folder images is not created anywhere.

Do you have an explanation for this behavior? Is there a way to preserve the original link to an image? If not is there a way to "see" the referenced folder with the images?

Best regards
Andy

Conversion creates a single output file. So there is no place to put images when converting to txt. If you want to preserve images you need to convert to a format that has scope for them, such as txtz and use --keep-image-references
and --txt-output-formatting=markdown

You can then unzip the txtz file.

Thanks, for the hint. Is there a possibility to preserve the original image reference (e.g. https://www.example.org/image.png) instead of using the downloaded png?

I use RTF to export from calibre for wordprocessing. I'd only sometimes copy & paste into a text editor to remove formatting.

RTF is very portable and maintains most of the ebook info including images.
