Marsh, Richard: The Haunted Pipe and Other Mysteries. v1. 26-Jun-2021
2 Attachment(s)
Ranging from mystery and suspense to farcical comedy, this collection includes several tales of articles acquired by rival collectors Pugh and Tress: a poisoned pipe that seems to come to life when smoked, a mysterious box puzzle, a 14th century severed hand bent on murder, a deadly ring fashioned by Lucrezia Borgia. (The first three were collected in Curios, 1898.) In other stories, you will encounter an actor who is said to be on his deathbed many miles away, kidnappers, a gentleman burglar, and a truly unique escaped convict. Collection compiled from magazine and newspaper archives found online. ========== Richard Marsh (12 October 1857 – 9 August 1915) was the pseudonym of English author Richard Bernard Heldmann. One of the most popular and prolific authors of the late-Victorian and Edwardian periods, he is best known now for his supernatural thriller novel The Beetle, which for a time outsold Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Marsh produced nearly 80 volumes of fiction and numerous short stories, in genres including horror, crime, romance and humor. ========== The contents of this book were first published 1891 ~ 1916. This ebook is in the public domain worldwide. . |
