I find them confusing and hard to read. Is there a Windows preference to hide those silly tile things?

At first, like you, I really could not accept having all those tiles on the start menu, but after having used Windows 10 for a few years now I am starting to add them back.
They can be quite useful as shortcuts to programs that you don't use that often - so don't want pinned to the taskbar - but often enough to make having a shortcut there worthwhile. |
