This is making me rethink my plan to buy the Forma, because the price gap just got wider.

Is this just a "Prime Day" competition deal? Or a sign of newer tech out soon?

Given the dates of the sale, I would say that it's a Prime Day competition deal. So When The Oasis and PW4 go on sale, Kobo will still be that much cheaper.

It looks like Walmart may have dropped the price on both of these models permanently, they're calling their price drops from $169.99 to $149.98 and from $119.99 to $99.98 "rollbacks" which at Walmart normally means a permanent price reduction. Also eligible for either one or two day free delivery.

It's possible that this might be a Canadian Thanksgiving sale
