Default format to open?

Hiho,

I have several books in my library where I have a pdf and a epub version. When I double-click on the item in the big list it (unfortunately) opens the epub version. Is there a setting somewhere, where I can default it to the pdf version of a book?

Thanks.

Preferences > Behavior > Preferred input format order

The first format on this list is opened when you double click a book entry.

Yeah. Live can be THAT simple. Thx a lot.

When I first started using calibre for my Books library I found my notional preferred viewing order is not the same as my preferred [conversion] input order, e.g. if there's an EPUB, View that; if there's a DOCX, convert that.

Plus I had different notional preferred viewing orders for my 3 libraries (Books, Papers, and Media), but my preferred [conversion] input order was the same for all three.

I solved the dilemma by:

Changing this tweak to:

Attachment 177738

and the View shortcuts to:

Attachment 177739

So, when I press 'v' I get this:

Attachment 177743

That means I get to decide which format I want to view at View time, and, via the Open with settings, which program to use.

For me at least, a two button mouse has far too little functionality to use as the main input device for feature rich programs like calibre. Fortunately, Kovid and the plugin developers provide me with customisable keyboard settings for just about everything

You are a keyboard guy! :2thumbsup
I use keyboard shortcuts a lot, too. But sometimes the mouse is just easier.
In my case, I have the Book Details Panel always on. So, for me, once the line is selected, I just click on the format I want opened. For epubs, just a double click (which for me is 95% of the time).
