pb firmware 6.0

I have heard rumours about an ongoing beta test of firmware version 6. Is there someone maybe who is participating in this test, and can shortly summarize what to expect from this new version? Thanks!

It's almost ready for PB Touch HD 3. I should be available to public about mid February. Other models will be update during next months 2020.

There is an updated comment. New fimware is planned on March 31.

I am beta-testing and there are quite a few changes. These are the most important ones:

- redesigned homescreen with more book covers shown
- shortcuts on homescreen can be changed
- flightmode
- recommendations from the shop on homescreen (can be switched off)
- new context menu on homescreen, including "open with" (works with KoReader and CoolReader)
- one login for Pocketbook Shop, Send-to-PB and PB Cloud
- new EPUB reader engine for EPUB3
- redesigned the audiobook player

There are still some bugs in the current beta, that's why the release was postponed.

Hi LucyOne,

many thanks for news. Sounds fine. Could you share new homescreen photo?

Thanks!

Hi, did they finally added option to justify text in default reader (text alignment), i know KoReader have that option, but i prefer default reader.

No, the settings in the PB reader are the same as before.

I see it's officially released for the Touch HD 3.

Hoping for a TL3 release as well.

And font bolding or make it more contrasted? Hm?

There are official plans only for more three old models: Touch Lux 4, InkPad 3 and InkPad 3 Pro.

Good to know. I guess optimizing for lower-end devices is time consuming and not a priority, but the firmware for TL3 is OK and I'll make do. :)
