Cedric Goodall was the pseudonym of Louis Charles Douthwaite, (1879-1948), a Canadian author of some twenty or so popular novels during the late 30s. Otherwise I know little about him.
This is the syndicated serial edition of the book, and runs to some 56,000 words, which suggests that, like most serial editions, it is somewhat condensed. 70-80,000 words was normal for the genre at that time. The story is set in London, where a vengeful serial killer is at work; not revenge for harm done to himself, but to others, by criminals who seem to be above the law. Scotland Yard investigates, in an action packed yarn, the Yard pursuing the unknown serial killer, and what happens when they finally unmask him. There is of course a beautiful girl. Oh, and an anaconda... |
