de Brune, Aiden: The Grays Manor Mystery (1933); v1; 11 Oct 2019
3 Attachment(s)
The only one of de Brune's novels set in UK, which he knew well because his real name was Herbert Charles Cull and he was born in London.
A wonderfully complicated plot (just the thing for a serial) sees Scotland Yard, the Home Office, a Barrister, an assortment of hoodlums, and several other devious characters in a twisting narrative. The resolution of the plot involves Grays Manor, a totally derelict ruin in the Surrey countryside, and a shoot-out with a Chicago gangster. |
