Using Sigil 0.9.14 - Book view is showing up black

Since I updated to 0.9.14 on Mac I can't see text in book view any longer. I use dark mode, and have changed the settings so that the code view is also dark. In the past when I switched to book view the background went white, but now it remains the same colour as code view. I've tried changing some settings and following this thread but can't get the backgrounds to colour independently like the used to.

Any help appreciated.

Have you specified a specific default style sheet to be used in BookView? If so remove it, also remove your dark mode qss stylesheet. The latest Sigil uses Qt 5.12.3 that should natively support Mac Dark Mode.

Book View/Preview are basically browsers. So only the custom user stylesheet that Kevin mentioned will affect them (as will each ebook's own CSS, of course).

It's named "custom_preview_style.css" and it goes in your Sigil preferences folder.

Hi, thanks for the response. Sorry if I'm being really simple but the preferences folder doesn't seem to have the file you're talking about (see attachment).

You make the file with a text editor, then leave it in the folder.

Much like the Qt Stylesheet (qt_styles.qss) from the other thread, the custom_preview_style.css file must be manually created in the preferences folder. Sigil uses it if it's present. Otherwise, Book View/Preview uses whatever text/background colors the epub itself (and the OS theme) specifies. custom_preview_style.css contains typical html css.
