Hyne, Cutcliffe: McTodd (1903), V3, 17.06.2019
1 Attachment(s)
McTodd, the son of a highland Scot free kirk preacher, is in his mid thirties, a second engineer constantly in search of work on steamships in the late 19th century. His career is somewhat blighted by his tendency to go on whisky benders when ashore.
Here are twelve amusing and entertaining tales of McTodd, several of them set in the arctic regions, to where Cutcliffe Hyne (died 1944) himself had travelled by sea. 1: The Chief of the Starry Head 2: The Pirating of the Shah 3: The Treasure Fishing 4: Lost with all Hands 5: The War of the Quah Ju-ju 6: The Cold-Water Prophet 7: A Deal in Bears 8: The Duel 9: The Late Esquimau Pout 10: The Illicit Sealer 11: The Widow and the Cannery 12: The Mammoth's Teeth Source: Internet Archive txt file, checked against page images. |
