Hodgson, William Hope: Captain Gault (1917), V.1.
2 Attachment(s)
Although best known for his fantasy/horror novels "The House on the Borderland", "The Night Land" etc, William Hope Hodgson (1877-1918) was also a prolific author of short stories written in a quite different style.
This book contains 10 entertaining tales of Captain Gault, a ship's captain in the years just before World War 1. He supplements his modest wages with ingenious smuggling of high-duty goods such as jewels, cigars, and even, in one yarn, guns. They originally appeared in The London Magazine between 1914 and 1916. For the cover I used an original dust-jacket image, but the text on it was too far gone and I therefore replaced it with new text in fonts as closely resembling the original as possible. |
