where? It's not listed in Amazon's Fire & Kindle Software Updates sections. The new Oasis is referred to as the 9th generation in Kindle support.

It's available only for the new Oasis, the others still show 5.8.1.1 as the latest.

The download page is: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...deId=202200380

This update includes general performance improvements and the following new features:

Audible: Listen to Audible on this Kindle. Play audiobooks directly from your library or explore the Audible store to discover new ones. Easily switch between reading on your Kindle and listening to your story on your favorite Bluetooth device – like speakers or headphones. Simply pair with Bluetooth to listen.

Storage Management: Under Advanced Options in Settings, Storage Management offers two new ways to free up space on your Kindle. You can remove content by content type, such as Books, Docs, or by groups of files that haven't been opened recently. Items downloaded from the cloud will still be accessible by tapping All on your library. Personal content that was transferred manually to your Kindle will be removed.

It is available for Paperwhite 7th Gen. as well.

But they do not mention "Storage Management". Which is strange as this feature would be more useful on Kindles with less memory.

Yes, I know this. But I wasn't able to find it in Amazon's Kindle Oasis Help area.

It looks like it is clarifying that if you hit " remove all old books", it will do just what it says, remove them. Unlike cloud books, they won't be backed up.

shamanNS 10-30-2017 02:42 PM

@hius07: And usually that was not the case in the past, AFAIR.
And I'm curious to see if that will have any influence on rescue pack/coward's rescue pack functionality.

Where has there been clamoring for this "feature"?

Manually transferred files is the last category I would want to delete with 1 tap.

radamo 10-30-2017 02:48 PM

But what would you want to happen if you pressed "Remove All Old Books"? I agree, not a button I was asking for but... the result would be expected... :-D
