Calibre alternative for Windows
Is there an alternative for Calibre for book management for Windows. I have over 12k in books and it's becoming time consuming to manage them

Why not use Calibre?

It's just time consuming trying to fix metadata lol

And you think any other solution would be any easier?

Calibre uses the Metadata found IN THE BOOK. (mostly DC flagged) An alternate, is from the filename, but that is limited to basics: Title, Author, Series IF.. You chose the correct template :smack: |

There are LOTS of options, depending on the source book. You can get initial metadata from filename or from file itself. There is no program even approaching the number of options, tools, features and cool tricks that Calibre has. Also look for plugins for further functionality. |
And version 3.0 will be here RSN - totally reworked server and a browser based viewer.

What part of managing them is time consuming?

You could take BookFusion for a spin. You can learn more on the forum here https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=205476

I am also looking for an alternative since I had been using calibre to sort and manage my books, but now it will not read books on my kindle fire hd.
AND in response to the comment regarding a large book collection it is not necessarily pirating. I have a large collection that I have been gathering for years simply by searching the free book offers daily. Its rude to assume wrong doing when you don't even know a person. |
There is not replacement for Calibre.
As for the eBooks on your Fire, they are probably KFX and Calibre does not handle KFX format. No book managing software handles KFX. |
I have written a (free) little Windows app that does a small subset of what Calibre does, and which some might find useful.
Is it appropriate to post a link to it here, or would that be considered spam ? Cheers, Redsky |
