Images displaying twice, overlapped in .mobi file
 

I'm having an issue where images are displaying oddly.

I'm using a .mobi file with a kindle. See attached.

There is only one image, but it seems that something odd it going on with how it is displaying. If I 'zoom in' the image displays fine. Most of the images in the book are displayed this way, with the doubling/overlapping...

In the ebook viewer on Calibre the images on the .mobi file look fine. And when I view the book with the AZW3 on Kindle it also looks fine, so it seems to be an issue specifically with the .mobi file and kindle.

Any ideas/solutions? Seems to be basic functionality, and I haven't been playing around with anything strange...

The JPEG support in Kindle's MOBI render has various bugs, this being one of them. You can probably work around it by converting the images to PNG and then back to JPEG using any common image manipulation program. Or just use AZW3

When using the .mobi files the kindle switches to landscape on zoom (which is why I preferred using it over AZW3...) Is there a way to make the AZW3 files zoom in the same way?
