That is a compelling argument but having read several other Star Trek novels a few years ago I am hesitant to say "I will read this if it wins". They are hit and miss at best from my experience.
I checked out some of the controversy mentioned in the nomination when deciding to third this or not (I know it's moot now) and that mess is an interesting read even if the book doesn't turn out to be.
